OfflineI remember them matey!
They were "the team" back in the 90's huh?. My junior team played in durham most years in nationals and the Cathederal Cup. The rickety old rink was beaten up was it? I remember sitting on the bench one game and seeing a couple of pigeons fly into the building from a huge hole in the roof. Oh and the old Tractor/Zamboni was awful!. Apparently the rink was turned into a gym! There is a guy who plays for Milton Keynes called Micheal Knightswho played for the Wasps when he was growing up…
Good luck this weekend.

OfflineHi , I remember the Wasps well ,they were bought out by Sir John Hall who at the time owned Newcastle Untd. he wanted to build a rink next to St James so he could have a great team that did not have to go all the way through the league structure and would start in the(old) Premier league he was allowed to move the team from Durham by a weak league management and before the rink could be built in Newcastle The (wasps)new team played out of Crowtrees rink in Sunderland for a season (or two)but the rink that was proposed by Sir JH was turned down by planners and Sir JH gave up and sold them to the new owners of the rink that did get built in Nwcastle,so the current Vipers are the present incarnation of the Durham Wasps, due to many new leagues forming and going bust ,and changing names ,there may not be a direct line from Wasps to Vipers but the story still stands .
