Additional Comments:

Here's what was printed in the match programme...

"Tonight we meet the Bournemouth Stags for the fourth time this season and we bid them and their supporters a warm welcome. The previous three encounters resulted in the Lions winning two and losing one, so we can be sure that the boys from the seaside resort will be out to even things up on this occasion.

"It is certain to be a close match as earlier results were a home win for the Lions last September by 8 to 5, followed by a losing game away, 5 to 6. Then the Lions paid the Stags a further visit and won by 5 goals to 4.

"Our go-ahead Ice Centre and Hockey Team Manager, Mike Smith, is looking ahead to next season. He is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that Lee Valley Lions are the team of the future. Mike has started at the grass roots by encouraging young players under the age of 16 to attend training sessions on Saturday lunchtimes. These embryo Lions will no doubt be performing in the Pee-Wee and Junior leagues next season.

"More importantly, however, Mike is looking for top class British players to fill the Lions team next season. He has advertised this fact in a rather unusual advertisement in the Golden Jubilee edition of 'Ice Hockey World' and it makes exciting reading. Watch out for further developments which will be covered in future programmes and the ice hockey press.

"Geof Williams is additionally sponsored by the Waltham Forest Guardian. If there is a representative from any organisation with us tonight who might consider sponsorship of any individual, then please contact Mike Smith, the Ice Centre Manager."

Referee for this game was Harris, Linesmen were Milsom and Holmes.
