Additional Comments: It was Power Plays and Short-Handed goals galore during this match - Lee Valley scored two Power Plays and an amazing three Short-Handed goals! Poor old Sunderland only managed two goals in total, but their second was a Power Play. Dave Ducharme and Doug McEwen were an effective partnership, with Doug scoring 4+3 and Dave 1+5 - they scored/assisted together in six of the Lions' seven goals. Doug actually played this match with a big black eye! Sunderland's Simon Ferry provided a short cabaret act, as at 52:18 he did an amazing stack, then got up to do a bit of a dance, much to the amusement of the watching fans who were then rewarded with a bow! In the match programme Julie Cook sent belated congratulations to goalie Ian Cade (not playing) on the birth of his daughter, Lauren. She also mentioned that ex-Richmond goalie, Lloyd Cliford, had been employed by the Lee Valley Lions Supporters Club as Bench Coach. Referee was not named, Linesmen were Hawkes and Batchelder. |
