Additional Comments:
We matched the opposition in every aspect during the first 20 minutes and the Redskins (or whatever they're called now) hadn't bargained on that. The only blip was Vas getting a 10-minute Misconduct penalty for abuse of an official.
Scott was taken to hospital and the last period was one that the Lions would probably rather forget. Fatigue started to show, the defence weakened and the Redskins went on the rampage with no fewer than 6 goals, 3 of which were scored by Andy Maslak. Ed Koral got 5+Game for High Sticks at 55:22, but penalties were otherwise kept to a minimum. Just when Streatham's young netminder Glen Jackson thought he was going to get a shut-out Chris Goddard came along with a brilliant powerplay goal at 56:01, assisted by Mark Swaine and Tom Looker. With less than 4 minutes left on the clock there was nothing the Lions could do to narrow the score and the game ended 1-8. The number of shots that Streatham had on Lee Valley's goal were in double figures in the first and third periods and single figures in the second. Conversely, Lee Valley's shots on the Streatham goal were in single figures in the first and third but double figures in the second. To me this seems a bit odd. Referee was Hayden, Linesmen were Holtham and Harris. | ||
