Additional Comments: Following a series of close encounters so far this season, hopes were high when the Lions faced their first clash with South London rivals, Streatham Redskins. However, the Redskins meant business right from the start, Polish Andrzej Mazlak scoring for the visitors after just four minutes. Streatham's second goal came courtesy of Steve Paris, who played for the original Lions team back in the 90s.
The final period saw a continued attack from the Streatham Redskins. Netminder Stefan Nubert had received injuries to his face and neck during the game which had caused bleeding to his forehead. His frustrations boiled over and a comment to the ref meant that was the end of his time in the crease. George Alley took over for the Lions (Streatham changed netminders too) but couldn't prevent the Redskins from scoring a total of 4 goals in what was an undisciplined final period. The Lions had no answer to the onslaught and the game ended with a scoreline of 1-9.
