Additional Comments: Already the third meeting between the two teams this season, the Lions arrived with the intention of reversing fortunes and beating their local rivals.
Although Lee Valley shot a reasonable number of shots on goal during the second period but failed to capitalise on power plays. Haringey's fourth and five goals came at 25:06 and 28:09, both scored by Gary Dodds. At 1-5 down Lions then opted to swap Stefan Nubert for Glen Jackson in goal. Sadly Glen fared no better than Stefan in the second period as Haringey scored twice in a little over four minutes. A different, more energised Lions team emerged from the changing room for the final period. Greyhounds' netminder Steve Andrews endured a frenzy of activity around his goalmouth, the Lions scoring three times in less than three minutes (goals from Scott Beeson, Rob Courtman and Michael Ranby). The Lions were still facing an uphill battle, however, and the Greyhounds were not going to make it easy for them to claw their way back into the game. Goals from Scott Cannam and Lee Mercer further emphasised the one-sided scoreline but the Lions had the last word with a short-handed goal at 56:21, scored by Scott Beeson, assisted by Paul O'Neill and Romanas Fedotovas. Referee was Russell-Samways, Linesmen were Holtham and Kent. | ||
