Our new import Antonio Espinosa is sure to give the competition a scare when they see what he can do. Antonio spent his junior years in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League, where he developed his natural talents. He’s represented his country 3 times and is over a point per game on the national stage. This will be Antonio’s first time playing league hockey in England and we think he’s going to be an amazing asset for the Lions.

 

“Antonio is a fantastic addition to the team,” said coach Simon Jones. “He has a fantastic attitude on and off the ice and I am sure he will be a leader in the room. I know that he is excited to get started and show what he can do at this level. I’m sure he will quickly make an impact and I am very pleased to have the opportunity to coach him.”

 

We’d also like to thank England Ice Hockey for helping us with registering Antonio for the 25/26 season.

Defenceman Sam Jackson signs for the Lions. After taking a year out of competitive hockey, the talented defenceman looks to make his mark on the roster.

 

“I’m delighted to add a player of Sam’s calibre to the team,” said coach Simon Jones. “Sam has been out with us a few times over the last year in between work commitments and has added quality each time. He is a puck-moving defender that will add to our attack whilst also being more than capable at shutting down opposition players.”

19-year-old Harry Wright signs with the Lions on a two-way agreement with Romford Buccaneers for the 25/26 season. Bringing with him two seasons of NIHL1 experience, Harry adds to the forwards’ depth chart.

 

Veteran defender James Broughton joins Lee Valley Lions. After spending time away from league hockey and impressing in trials, James seeks to impress this season after having a brilliant pre-season opener against Nottingham.

 

Coach’s comments: “James came out during the summer skates and his work rate stood out. Having played outside of the league for a while, James has really committed to working on his craft in pre-season and he will be a valuable contributor to the team. He is constantly seeking feedback and I am sure he can be a valuable asset to the team as we move through the season.”

It wouldn’t be Lee Valley without James Joseph, right? Player/manager James returns once more for the exciting 25/26 season, joining a roster brimming with depth and talent. “When you think of Lee Valley you think of James Joseph,” said coach Simon Jones. “James’ commitment to the team and to hockey at Lee Valley is demonstrated by 20 seasons and over 300 games played (and over 300 penalty minutes). James gives his all every time he steps on the ice and will go all out again this year.”
