Miller’s back for more

Gritty forward Joe Miller re-signs for the 25/26 season. Miller opened the scoring in our pre-season game against Nottingham with a cool, calm and collected breakaway goal, so we hope to see plenty more as the league fixtures get under way.

Coach Comments: “Joe is amongst the longest serving players on the team and has consistently worked hard on his game, being willing to do whatever has been asked of him for the team. Joe works hard to put pressure on the opposition and capitalises on the mistakes that he forces. I’m sure he will continue to grind down opponents this season.”

 

Former Lion back in the Den

Ashlee Cave makes his return to the green and blue for the 25/26 season, bringing with him the experience of 280 games in the league, including two previous stints with Lee Valley Lions.

The 6’1 forward looks to slot in perfectly, adding depth with his both his playing and leadership experience. Coach Simon Jones said, “Ashlee is an extremely hard-working player that has a high IQ and can play in all situations. Having played with Ashlee previously I know he will set the tone on the ice and be a valuable voice in the changing room. He adds another layer of depth to our forward group and I know he will be a valuable contributor this season.”

Freeman returns

Joshua Freeman returns for his third season with the Lions. The defender is becoming a staple in the roster from demonstrating his skill on the ice. “Josh is a great member of the team and has huge ability to push on this season,” said Simon Jones, the Lions’ coach. “Josh is very coachable and wants to get better every time he steps on the ice. I’m looking forward to him taking another step forward this season.”

Young talent signs for Lions

Talented 17-year-old Alan Khafisov signs for the Lions’ 25/26 season. Alan has put up numbers in his junior career, with a combined 53 points over 28 games last season. Those watching last weekend’s friendly witnessed Alan score a filthy bar down snipe in our 10-4 win against Nottingham, so we’re expecting good things in the regular season.
 
“Alan is a young and talented player that will be one to watch this season as he progresses,” said coach Simon Jones. “For his age he has a strong hockey IQ and a skillset that gives him a platform to be successful this season. I anticipate that his progress will exciting to see this year as he steps up to senior hockey.”

Haringey match postponed

Unfortunately our home match against Haringey Huskies this weekend coming has had to be postponed. This is due to issues at the rink that are beyond our control.

We are sorry for any inconvenience and are very disappointed that we can’t crack on with our home opener. The match has provisionally been rearranged for 20 December, but we are awaiting formal confirmation.
