Lee Valley Lions to play on

It is reported that the London Racers may fold as a result of safety concerns about the Lee Valley rink. This has raised worries about how the Lions will be affected. Lions’ Manager, Pete Osborne, has posted a statement on the forum, which includes the following:

“We have NO problems with the facilities provided at Lee Valley Ice Rink. As far as we are concerned this is one of the better ice rinks in the ENIHL (ED1) in terms of the quality of the fixtures and fittings both on and off the ice. We fully intend to continue playing there and have no intention of moving anywhere else. This is also true for the junior club.”

Lions sign two new players

Lee Valley Lions are pleased to announce the signing of two new players to the squad. Tom Looker joins the team from the Romford Raiders. He is a fast, hard-working forward with plenty of English Premier League experience and is returning to hockey after a short break.

Kwabina Oppong-Addai joins from Haringey as a defenceman. Kwabina can also play as a forward should the need arise. He too has played in the EPL.

A team spokesman said, “These two players will increase the strength of the squad. Having players of their calibre with EPL experience who are willing to commit themselves to our team is a boost to the current players’ morale.”

Eddie plays again!

The Lions had a late-night scrimmage against some other players on 12th November and put plenty of goals in the back of the net in what was a useful training session. Back on the ice was none other than Eddie Joseph! Nice to see that Eddie’s still steady on his feet after all these years and he scored a few goals to boot.

Press release

The Lee Valley Lions are disappointed to announce that Graham Bellamy, Kevin Murphy and Owen Murphy have asked to be released from the team.

The main reason for asking for their release was the amount of travelling involved from where they live in Berkshire to Lee Valley for training and games. The club wishes them well, wherever they go.
