Home of the Lee Valley Lions Ice Hockey Team
The Lee Valley Lions can today announce our first new defenceman for the 2021-22 season, as Ivo Buchlovsky signs up.
Czech-born and British-trained blueliner Buchlovsky spent his junior career with Basingstoke, playing at U16 and U19 level for the Hampshire side.
He then played 3 seasons of BUIHA university hockey with the Birmingham Lions and Southampton Spitfires.
After some time away from the sport, Ivo returns to hockey this season with the Lions.
Welcome to the club Ivo!
The Lee Valley Lions are pleased to welcome forward Kody Edwards to the club for the 2021-22 season.
This will be Kody’s first season in NIHL league action, but the Chelmsford-born forward played recreational hockey for the Chelmsford MisChiefs before joining the Lions.
Nice to have you on board, Kody!
The Lee Valley Lions can confirm their first two signings for the upcoming 2021-22 season, as Tyrone Wells and Naomi Healey both re-sign with the club.
Forward Wells made his debut for the Lions in the 2019-20 season, scoring two goals and one assist in 23 combined league and cup games.
Goaltender Healey also made her debut for the club in 2019-20, featuring in nine combined league and cup games in the Lions net.

The Lee Valley Lions are delighted to announce that, after more than a year out of action due to the pandemic, we are returning to the ice in for the 2021/22 season – albeit in unfamiliar surroundings.
Due to the refurbishment at Lee Valley Ice Centre, which should be completed by October 2022, the Lions have been searching for a suitable venue to host our home games for the upcoming season.
The club can today confirm that we will be playing our home games at Cambridge Ice Arena this season, with a faceoff time of 4pm on Sundays.
We will be competing in NIHL South Division 2 alongside 11 other clubs – Basingstoke Buffalo, Bristol Pitbulls 2, Cardiff Fire, Chelmsford Warriors, Guildford Phoenix, Haringey Huskies, Invicta Mustangs, Peterborough Phantoms 2, Solent Junior Devils, Streatham Black Hawks and Swindon Wildcats 2.
The season will get underway on 18th September and run until 3rd April.
More information, such as fixtures, will be published as soon as it is available.
If you’re interested in joining us for the 2021/22 season, please give Eddie Joseph a call on 07958 743680.
With the UK government relaxing restrictions on indoor sports, the Lee Valley Lions are now able to resume with our usual off-season open tryout sessions.
The tryout sessions will take place every Tuesday evening from 8.15pm, with a £10 charge towards ice time.
These sessions will run up to and including Tuesday 22nd June, with Lee Valley Ice Centre closing its doors for refurbishment on Sunday 27th June.
After this point, the Lions are looking to relocate the sessions to another location, which is yet to be determined.
If you would like to participate in one of the sessions, you must have EIHA-approved insurance in place, which can be obtained here for British trained players.
Unfortunately we will not be able to invite non-British trained players to these sessions, due to the length of time required to get this insurance sorted.
Any prospective player wishing to attend the sessions must also contact our General Manager, Eddie Joseph, on 07958 743680 at least four days beforehand.
This is so that you can be made aware of the ice rink’s COVID-19 protocols, and to ensure insurance is in place.
