2012/13 Fixtures
The fixtures for the 2012/13 season are on the EIHA’s website, so I have posted them onto the Fixtures & Results 2012/13 page using the Fixtures Live plugin. At the moment it’s showing both last season’s results and the forthcoming season’s fixtures, but hopefully someone in the company will correct this.
Our first home home game will be on 2 September, against Slough Jets, with Wight Link away the following week. As some of you know, I have moved away from London so won’t be taking photos or writing match reports this season. If you would like to volunteer to do either of these, please let me know and I will forward your offer to the team’s management. I started this website back in 2001 and will be continuing as normal. I look forward to seeing the Lions on the road in places closer to my new home, eg Cardiff and Bristol.
Lions awarded points from unplayed Slough game
I’ve been informed today that we will not be playing the Slough away game and that, as a result, we have been awarded the two points.
Use of game/player photos
I have no problem with current team members using my photos on Facebook etc, but if you are going to take them, please have the courtesy to put a link back to the Lions’ site. By doing that we can hopefully generate more interest in the team as a whole and I won’t have to start putting copyright notices on images – thanks.
Lions partner Hockey Algeria
Lee Valley Lions have entered into a partnership with Hockey Algeria, revolving around mutual publicity for the two teams. The aim is to introduce Algerians in the UK to ice hockey, providing youngsters with the opportunity to get involved and learn how to play.
Algerian player Karim Kerbouche iced for the Lions in the 09/10 season and with this partnership we expect more Algerian players to sign in the future.
There are tentative plans for exhibition games between Team Algeria and Lee Valley Lions, but this will depend on approval being obtained from the English Ice Hockey Association. Should the games gain approval, they will be announced here and on the Hockey Algeria site.
