Additional Comments:

I don’t have very little information about this game, other than the players’ names and numbers. However, Ian Howitt remembers that the Finnish side were in a different class. Janne Lehti scored two goals and Ari Arvila scored one. One of the Leggatt brothers (he can’t remember which one) scored an assist, which made him the only non-Finn to score a point! Ian believes that Pekka Peltola scored three goals for the visitors.

Here’s what was written on the match programme introduction page by Mike Grafton (AKA Mike Ewer):

“Good Evening and TERVE to our visitors from Finland for what promises to be a good contest. Lions returned from Solihull with a 4-4 draw on Sunday and are raring to go. Keep your eye out for a number of the visiting players, I’ve heard that we might be importing some of the IFK players for next season.”

IFK Grankulla were a “top 3rd Division Finnish team.” Ian Howitt tells me Grankulla were a different class to the Lions. Janne Lehti scored two of the Lions’ three goals and Ari Arvila scored the other. One of the Leggatt brothers scored an assist and turned out to be the only non-Finn to score a point! Ian believes that Pekka Peltola scored three of Grankulla’s seven goals.
