Additional Comments: In the Lions’ history to this point it was Richmond Flyers that cropped up most on the fixture list and this season was no exception as we were due to meet them six times. The Richmond team contained a number of ex-Lions (and future Lions!). John Walker was a new acquisition for the team, having been signed from the Peterborough Pirates. His nickname was Turkey, though I have no idea why! We gave Richmond somewhat of a thrashing during this match, but it has to be said that the teams were not evenly matched in terms of player numbers. Dave Ducharme scored an incredible 11+4, but mention should also go to Eddie Joseph (2+1), Ali Rodger (0+4), Jaro Lycka (2+9), Lee Whale (2+3), Doug McEwen (3+5), Mark Smith (2+1) and Chris Leggatt (1+5). All-in-all, a good team performance all round! Two players received 2+10 for Elbows during this game – Mark Nicholls at 18:25 and Doug McEwen at 30:40. |
