Additional Comments:

What an excruciatingly close win over our local enemies, the Romford Raiders! The fact it was an away win made it all the more better, but the most surprising thing was that we won despite being an import down (Brad Wilson didn’t ice)!!! The game was also played despite the rink being clouded in fog at times and supporters having to stand in puddles!

We also scored four Power Play goals and one Short-Handed goal. The Raiders also scored three Power Play goals and in fact both teams scored three Power Plays on the trot (Lions at 01:18, 11:44 and 17:00, Raiders at 09:13, 09:40 and 13:47 – their first three goals of the game!).

Certain players were very high scoring during this match, notably Mike Moree (5+2) and Gord Jeffrey (8+2 – he had a hand in every Romford goal but still didn’t get Man of the Match!) but mention should also go to Adam Anderson (2+1), Lee Whale (2+0), Steve James (0+3) and Darrin Zinger (2+3).

An all-round fantastic game where the best the Raiders could do was draw even as at no time were they in the lead. Closely fought and a good team effort by the Lions for a change!

Referee was Moore, Linesmen were Dadswell and Wheeler.
