Additional Comments:

The first match of the 1990/91 season for the Lions and Director Terry Mills spelt out in the programme just how much it was costing to keep the team going (approx £90,000 at the time). The Lee Valley Park were no longer able to fund another poor season, so a 3-year deal was stuck. This was, then, our first season as the British Engine Lee Valley Lions and the change of strip from blue, white and green to red, white and black came as a bit of a shock.

For the first time we also had a professional coach in the form of Canadian Wayne Evers (however, in true Lions tradition he didn’t last too long!).

Anyway, nothing of any particular interest to mention in this game, other than Steve James and Tony Cimelli who clashed at 17:29. Both received 2+2 for Roughing and Cimelli came out injured from the encounter.

Referee was Cloutman, Linesmen were Dadswell and Harris.
