Additional Comments: Although the Lions scored three Power Play goals they always trailed behind the Wildcats. Things weren’t helped by the fact that Swindon’s 5th goal (credited to Steve Harris, unassisted) was in fact scored inadvertently by Lions’ Darren Bloomfield! Swindon Wildcats also changed netminder at an early stage in the game, swapping from Ian Woodward to Joe Dunn at 09:37. Both sides were no angels when it came to penalties, with Tony Goldstone and Toby Chamberlain both receiving Match penalties at 59:14 for Fighting. The majority of the Wildcats’ penalties were for Roughing or Unsportsman-like Conduct. The Man of the Match awards were presented by Paul Berand, who apparently (I’m no footie fan) was a Tottenham Hotspur player at the time. Referee was Moore, Linesmen were Ford and McLaughlin. |
