Additional Comments:

The Lions managed to score three powerplay goals during this match. Two were scored by Michel, the other by Campbell. Lions also had a goal disallowed at 10:29 as a player was (supposedly, of course!) in the crease.

Referee was Dadswell, Linesmen were Ford and Bennett.

Scorpio and Saracen from the ITV Gladiators show were at the rink to make a “special appearance.” Saracen (real name Mick Lewis) was a London fireman in “real life”, stationed alongside Steve James. Also, tickets were won to see the Gladiators Live event at Wembley as well as Lions gear and Sega goodies.

A page in the Lions programme, written by coach Lindsay Miles, declared that “some of the team are behaving like spoilt brats. They don’t seem to know what it takes to win and think it will be handed to them on a plate… They are so used to losing they think it’s a bad habit and I am sick of it. They think it’s all a big joke. After getting hammered last weekend (losing 8-27 to Swindon) some guys are laughing and joking in the changing room, talking about the night before. Well, they are going to learn because I am totally fed up with them.”

Maybe the certain team members paid a bit of attention because this game was a good win for the Lions (although Lindsay Miles’ career at the Den was to be somewhat short…).
