I was recently contacted by Mike Southway, a fan of the original Lions. He’s kindly sent me scans of a couple of photos he has of Paul Grech and one of Rob McCaig – these guys were great favourites with the Lions’ fans back in the 90s.
I’ve added all three photos to the History section of the site and my thanks go to Mike for contributing.
Lee Valley Lions are pleased to announce that Andrzej Maslak has been selected to join the team. Andrzej is a 24-year-old Polish forward who has previously played for Poland at Under 18 and Under 20 level. Last season he was with Streatham Redskins where he scored an impressive 11+7 in 12 games.
As you will have noticed if you’ve visited here before, the site now has another new look. I had to update the banner anyway because it ex-players were on it, so I thought I’d create a new design instead – both for the banner and the menu. Hope you like it.
In theory, when you click certain items on the menu (such as Player Info) you’ll be able to select which season’s info you want to look at. Please let me know if you have any problems with this feature.
The Lions have now signed Nick Darby, a promising young player who’s progressed from the Under 19s. We all welcome Nick to the team.
We are sad to announce that last year’s Captain, Darren Wakeling, is unable to play for the Lions this season. His new job requires him to work Saturdays and he’s about to become a father again so understandably, he’s had to pull out.
We wish Darren and his family lots of luck and happiness for the future.
