Lions to Challenge Racers This Summer

The Lee Valley Lions are pleased to announce that they will participating in the Richards Cup this summer, with local rivals the Haringey Racers.

The double header competition to take place at the end of July, is in honour of former Lee Valley Head Coach & original Haringey Racer Dave Richards Senior, who sadly passed away a couple of years ago.

All funds will be going to the British Heart Foundation

The first leg will be played at Lee Valley Ice Centre on Saturday July the 26th, face off at 5:30pm, with the return leg at Alexandra Palace on Sunday the 27th, face off also at 5:30.

We also have huge news of another pre-season game that will be announced soon.

Keep an eye on the club’s Twitter and Facebook pages for information on that soon.

Summer trials/practice sessions

The club invites players to come along to the Lions’ practice sessions, which would also function as trials for the 2014/15 season. The sessions will run each Tuesday from 13 May, 8.15-9.30pm, at a cost of £10 per player.

Alex needs wheels! Help Paul O’Neill achieve Ironman challenge

Former Lion, Paul O’Neill, is training hard for a half-Ironman event on 18 May – this will consist of a 2km swim, 90km cycle and a half-marathon run. Why is Paul putting himself through all this? To raise €4000 to buy a new wheelchair for a little lad called Alex, who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy. You can see how Paul’s getting along by heading over to the Alex Needs Wheels group page on Facebook. You can also make a donation via PayPal, contact Paul about the cause or ask to join the Facebook group using the email address of muscles4muscles at gmail dot com (written in the email format, obviously – I’m trying to avoid Paul getting spammed to oblivion by writing it like this).
