Lee Valley’s early season woes continued as they lost 15-4 at Slough NIHL Jets.
A brace from Scott Beeson, one from Richard Hodge and a first senior goal for Jordan Jones were not enough as a strong Jets side ran rampant late in the second period, cruising to a big win and leaving the Lions nursing a 7th straight defeat this season.
Period scores were 4-1/5-2/6-1
Man of the Match was Joe Berry.
The date for the Lions’ home game against Invicta Mustangs has changed from Sunday 21 October to Saturday 20 October, face-off 5.15pm.
2-0 down after the first, the Lions pulled goals back in the second though Richard Hodge – assisted by Scott Beeson – and Adam Peach from a pass by Joe Berry. The Islanders went ahead again at the start of the third and made it 4-2 shortly after. Phil Carson shot in number three for Lions but Islanders scored a fifth to take the points. Aaron Mallet was once again busy in the Lions net facing 48 shots. Joe Berry was MOM.
I’ve been informed today that back-up netminder Steve Grout has chosen to go to Romford, which means Ruth Cattell is now able to rejoin the squad on a regular basis.
