Quoted from the LVL programme of 14/11/87…

“Dave Hardie has emerged as one of the dark horses of this year’s Division 1; one of few new faces on the circuit he has already established himself as a defenceman of high quality.

Dave played for five years at Colorado College, for the “Tigers” team, competing in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. The Tigers play at Broadmoor World Arena, a 4,300 capacity arena which staged the World Skating Championships in 1968 and is the base for the famous coaching couple Carlo and Christa Fassi.

Before joining Colorado College and wearing their gold and black shirts he played for his hometown team, the Penticton Knights, in the British Columbia Junior Hockey League, winning a championship in 1980/81 with a 35-20-1 record. He was voted Best Defenceman during that season and was elected to the BCJHL All-Star Team.

Dave sat out his entire “freshman” (first year) season due to a knee injury suffered in 1982, but recovered to become one of his team’s finest technical defencemen, displaying excellent balance and deceptive strength.

A welcome member of this year’s Lions squad, who should forge a formidable partnership with fellow blue-liner Jaroslav Lycka.”
