Farewell to Darren
We are sad to announce that last year’s Captain, Darren Wakeling, is unable to play for the Lions this season. His new job requires him to work Saturdays and he’s about to become a father again so understandably, he’s had to pull out.
We wish Darren and his family lots of luck and happiness for the future.
Gary Dodds’ testimonial match
Haringey Greyhound Gary Dodds used to play for the original Lee Valley Lions back in the 90s. After 10 years with the ‘Hounds Gary is having a well-deserved testimonial on Sunday 27th August, face-off 5.30pm.
Old school Lions fans might like to pop along as Gary will be playing alongside his old LVL partners in crime, Jon Beckett and Glen Moorhouse (the other one, Neil Stower, is in the USA). With any luck I’ll be there and will post a few pics.
Lions complete main signings for 2006/07 season
The final trials took place on 1st August and three more players were signed: Romanas Fedotovas, Kwabina Oppong-Addai and Rob Courtman. All were members of last year’s squad and we’re pleased to welcome them back.
Lions complete netminder signings
Lee Valley Lions have secured the services of another netminder, Glen Jackson, who played for Streatham Redskins last season. He was in goal when the Lions faced the Redskins last December, facing 23 shots and conceding only 1. Glen will be joining existing netminders Stefan Nubert and George Alley for the Lions’ 2006/07 season.
