Yes, the Lions will definitely be back next season. Eddie Joseph reports that trials have been going well with the backbone of the team now in place….

If anyone else would like to try out all they’ve got to do is turn up at the rink on any Tuesday from 8pm.

Eddie is hoping to stage a game between the new Lions and some old faces, although it’s still in the planning stage at the moment. Any further news on this development will of course be posted here.

Eddie Joseph tells me that a senior Lee Valley Lions team may return to the Den next season, playing in the ED1. Try-outs will be held in May and June.

Ex-Lions netminder, Jim Graves, brings his Team Ireland players to London on 20th February 2005 for a match against the Streatham Redskins. The Streatham Redskins’ site has more information about the game….

The Redskins are my team these days and Lions fans may be interested to know that several ex-Lions are involved with the Redskins.

Steve James and Adam Goldstone have managerial and coaching roles, while Victor Somfaleanu, Octavian Sersea and Steve Paris are out on the ice.

Streatham games are only a fiver and the chips are nice, so go and give them some support.

It is with great sadness that I announce the death of Marian Tingey. Marian was a staunch Lions supporter who used to sit alongside me in the front row of Block 8, in the Clock End. Jack McGill contacted me to let me know she had passed away….

Jack says:

“I post with great sadness the news of Marian Tingey’s death. She passed peacefully last week at age 65, after a short illness. Many will remember her as a warm and friendly lady who supported the Lions from start to finish from the clock end with her 3 children (Sandy, David and Peter) and at most away games she could be found cheering with the rest of us.

“What many did not know was she was also a sponsor of the team through the hard times and the good, towards the end of the Lions she helped to run the clock end shop and was a tireless proponnent of Hockey. In fact it was Marian and the kids that encouraged me to come and see a Hockey game for myself and for me at least it was a life changing experience.

Hockey has lost a great fan, the family have lost a mother and I have lost one of the closest friends I have ever had.”
