2012/13 trials now underway

Just a reminder to everyone interested in playing for the Lee Valley Lions in 2012/13 that our trials are now well under way. They will continue on each of the remaining Tuesdays in July, from 8.15pm to 9.30pm.  Players will need to contribute £10 towards the cost of ice time.

Open training sessions & 2012/13 trials

Our open training sessions will be starting again on Tuesday 12 June and will be running each Tuesday from 8.15 – 9.30pm. Please note there is a charge of £10 per session.  Sessions were originally starting on 5 June but that day is a Bank Holiday, so please note this change.

While all are welcome to the open training sessions, we will be selecting players for the 2012/13 season each Tuesday in July and from August onwards the sessions will be for team members only.

Farewell and thanks to Blair

On behalf of everyone involved with the Lions, I would like to say a massive thanks and farewell to our coach and team captain, Blair Dubyk.

Blair has made the decision to relocate back to his native Canada and he will be sorely missed at the Den. Under his leadership the Lions have seen definite, marked improvement and have had some great games over the past two seasons, including some shock results (I don’t think anyone would have predicted a 12-1 win over Bristol, for a start).

The Canadian National Anthem was played before last night’s match and Blair received the send-off he deserved over at the Princess of Wales pub afterwards.

Farewell, Blair, have a safe flight home and thanks so much for everything you have done for our team.
